Swimming
Petoskey State Park
In addition to a wonderful sandy beach, the Petoskey State Park offers hiking trails, restrooms, biking on interior roads, picnic facilities, sand volleyball courts, and a small playground.
Light concession items, hand-dipped ice cream, camp store items, and park/region-specific merchandise. Open in the summer, 7 days/week. Petoskey State Park’s day-use parking lot is typically open from late April to early November.
Kayaks, paddleboards, and bikes are available for rent.
Two hiking trails grace the Petoskey State Park – The half-mile-long Petoskey-Old Baldy and the mile-long Petoskey-Portage Trail. Old Baldy includes a flight of stairs and ends at the top of a sand dune. The Portage Trail is mostly flat and easy to walk.
Bike Trails
Top of Michigan Trails Council The Trails Council’s network currently is made up of over 300 miles of trails, stretching from Charlevoix to Alpena, from Lake Michigan to Lake Huron. This network is continually growing, thanks to the advocacy of the Trails Council and its partners.
Skiing
The communities in Northern Michigan include many great ski resorts that provide great winter fun for the entire family. In addition to skiing or snowboarding, these resorts also offer other activities like dog sledding, sleigh rides, NASTAR, tubing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, ziplining, ice skating, and more!
